Transportation & Maps

Getting Here

The Denver International Airport (DIA) is about 45 miles from the University of Colorado in Boulder and serves the area. For those wishing to travel by train or bus, Denver’s Union Station serves the scenic California Zephyr Line, which offers daily service to and from Chicago to San Francisco, and a Greyhound Bus Concourse.

Both DIA and Union Station in Denver offer direct bus service to Boulder via the Flatiron Flyer (from Union Station) and the Skyride Line (DIA). A one-day pass for Skyride costs $10.50 and the Flatiron Flyer costs $5.25. Both bus services run frequently and are safe, easy options that many CU graduate students rely upon for commuting.

Shared-ride service shuttles also pick up and drop off from DIA’s Jeppesen Terminal Level 5, island 5, outside doors 505-507 (east side) and 510-512 (west side).

Getting Around

Two bus lines offer direct service to the University of Colorado from both conference hotels. The bus stops for both lines are located directly outside of each hotel. We strongly recommend that you give yourself plenty of time because the buses are occasionally a few minutes behind schedule.

Please note that the schedules for each may vary during the summer recess. We recommend downloading the RTD MyRide App to pay for tickets and the Transit mobile app to view route maps and real-time bus schedules.

Once on campus, feel free to reference the maps provided at check-in. The University of Colorado also has a fantastic digital map that works better on campus than Apple or Google Maps.

The SKIP (from the Comfort Inn)

The SKIP runs from 5:45 AM to midnight (10-minute frequency) and will take you directly from The Comfort Inn to campus with no transfers. Bus passes range from $3 for a 3-hour pass to $6 for a day pass. The bus line also stops at the famous “Pearl Street” area with numerous shops, coffee shops, bookshops, bars, and restaurants.

To catch the SKIP to campus, use the stop a few feet north of the front of the hotel (Broadway & Lee Hill Dr). The ride to campus takes approximately 12 minutes. You will want to get off at Stop #12609 Broadway & University Ave (Southbound). From there, it takes approximately 6 minutes to walk to the library (see Map A). The same route will take you back to the hotel, but you will want to depart campus from Stop #17892 Broadway & Pleasant St. (Northbound) (see Map B).

Driving

If you choose to drive, you can access parking at both hotels—the Embassy charges $16 per night, while the Comfort Inn is free. The best place to park on campus is the Euclid Parking Garage (EPG).  The EPG parking rate is $2 per hour up to three hours; after three hours the rate is $4 per hour. The walk from the EPG to Norlin takes approximately 5 minutes (see Map E).

Accessibility on Campus

The Norlin Library West Entrance has a wheelchair-accessible ramp, and an elevator (see floor maps) provides access to all the floors.

Norlin Library also has a lactation room on the second floor in room N275. Inquire at Security (M298) for key access (see map). There are also nap pods located on the first floor, adjacent to E103Afor those needing a break from stimulation.

All-gender restrooms are on the second floor/west (see map).

Please ask any of our graduate student volunteers if you need any additional assistance.

Floor Maps of the Libraries

All the conference rooms are highlighted on the maps with red squares. Please also use the maps available on the library website. Our “homebase” throughout the conference will be M549, The Center for British and Irish Studies. We will serve all refreshments and lunches from this room; this is also where graduate student volunteers will be on hand to answer any questions or help with any problems. Please also feel free to use this room to relax and socialize.
