BWWA Board Elections

As the British Women Writers Association (BWWA) approaches its 34th anniversary in June 2026, we would like to invite interested scholars of the long 18th and 19th centuries to help us increase participation in the Association’s governance. Specifically, we invite applications to serve on our Association Board and to serve as Vice Chair.

The 2025 British Women Writers Association elections are open. We are looking for Association Board members as well as for a new Vice Chair!

Call for Vice Chair

The BWWA Executive Board invites nominations for the position of Vice Chair. This position is elected by the BWWA members and will serve for two years, with the expectation that the Vice Chair will assume the position of Chair for the following two years. The position’s main responsibilities are:

  • advising the Chair and acting as Chair in Chair’s absence;
  • overseeing Travel Award committee and chairing Nominations and Elections Committee;
  • serving as Chair after completion of two-year term as Vice Chair.

Call for Association Board Members

The Association Board is the governing body of the BWWA and contains nine members, in addition to the members of the Executive Committee and past Chairs. They are encouraged to attend the annual board meeting during the annual British Women Writers Conference (BWWC); they recruit potential conference hosts and promote the BWWC in professional venues; and they help solicit papers and/or organize panels for the annual conference. New board members will serve for a minimum for two years. They may stand for re-election.

Eligibility:

  • Scholarly expertise in the British women writers of the long 18th and 19th centuries
  • Any rank (graduate students, independent scholars, tenure-track professors, contingent faculty, etc.)
